Injured veteran Cristian Brocchi says he is determined to represent Lazio in next season s UEFA Champions League.
The 36-year-old midfielder had hoped to return from a nagging foot problem in time to play his part in Lazio s bid to finish third in Serie A, and earn a chance at qualifying for the Champions League.
However, it was announced on Thursday that Brocchi had suffered a relapse, ruling him out for the rest of the campaign and even casting doubt on his future in the game.
I am truly disappointed to learn from the German specialists that I ll be out for three months, the former AC Milan man told Lazio Style Radio.
I will stay in Rome this month to stay close to the team and do specific work with a personal physiotherapist. I won t be able to run, so need different training techniques.
But, in any case, I am happy that the lesions (on his right foot) were not more serious, as they could ve compromised my career.
I still want to play in the Champions League, a competition I have already won twice. I absolutely want to play in it with Lazio, as their jersey is like a second skin for me.
Brocchi, who has one Italy cap to his name, arrived at the Stadio Olimpico from San Siro in 2008.
