BREAKING NEWS: Madrid´s Odriozola loaned to Bayern for rest of the season

Bayern Munich have bolstered their defensive options by signing Alvaro Odriozola on loan from Real Madrid for the remainder of the season.

The 24-year-old was a target of head coach Hansi Flick, who himself is under contract until the end of the season, and will give the Bundesliga champions more defensive flexibility as they seek to defend their crown.

Odriozola, capped four times by Spain, has only made four LaLiga appearances for Madrid this term, with the most recent of those coming in October.

While he is behind Dani Carvajal in the Madrid pecking order for right-backs, Odriozola could feature regularly for Bayern given their injury problems in defence.

His arrival may lead to Benjamin Pavard reverting inside to centre-back, where Bayern are short of…

Vinicius Junior breaks down in tears as he explains impact of racist abuse

Vinicius Junior broke down in tears in a media conference when asked about racism ahead of Tuesday night’s friendly between Spain and Brazil.

The Brazil and Real Madrid forward has been the target of racist abuse throughout his time in the Spanish capital and the ‘One Skin’ match at the Bernabeu was arranged last June as part of an anti-racism campaign in support of the player.

It followed Real’s LaLiga match in Valencia last season in which Vinicius Jr was racially abused, while he has continued to be targeted by Real’s rival fans during the current campaign.

We need equality, a world where everyone, regardless of colour, can achieve their highest potential.

Thank you for paving the way for a more just and inclusive world. Let s together!<…

Former Hearts academy director McAvoy was named head coach, with Gordon Forrest also remaining as first-team coach and all three are putting the Hearts players through their paces with a view to a positive start to t…

Kenya hoping to break travelling curse

Kenya coach Zedekiah Otieno is hoping his side can break their run of poor form away from home when they face Seychelles in a World Cup qualifier.

The Harambee Stars will face Seychelles on November 12 in the first-leg of their must-win play-off tie.

Locally based players have already reported to camp in a bid to sharpen their skills, hoping to improve on an away record which has seen Kenya win just once away from home since early 2009.

We are out to register an away win which has proved to be elusive to the national team, Otieno said.

We are working on ensuring we do everything possible to achieve this.

The two-legged tie between the two countries will decide who will join Nigeria, Malawi and the winner of another play-off between Djibouti…

Petrov welcomes midfield competition

Aston Villa captain Stiliyan Petrov is grateful to have competition from Jermaine Jenas and Fabian Delph in the central midfield.

Both players have struggled with injuries this term, but with each nearing fitness, the Bulgarian believes the standard in the centre of the pitch will rise.

Every day in training we try to push each other and improve each other. It s great to have Jermaine back with us, Petrov told the club s official website.

(He) has been unlucky with injuries so far but we know how important he can be for this team. He has shown over the years what a good player he is.

He s a typical midfielder. He can defend, he can attack, he can score goals and he s a good athlete. He will be a great addition to the squad when he starts playing.

Stoke land Martins Indi on five-year deal

Bruno Martins Indi has signed a five-year deal with Stoke City after completing a €7.7million (£7m) move from Porto.

The Netherlands international was on loan with the Premier League club last season, making 35 appearances in all competitions.

And Mark Hughes now has the 25-year-old defender at his disposal on a permanent basis for the coming campaign.

Potters chief executive Tony Scholes said: We are delighted to have secured a deal to bring Bruno to the club in a permanent transfer and I know that Bruno feels the same.

Bruno loved being with us last season and made no secret of his desire to move here permanently when his loan spell came to an end.

We ve had to be patient in our dealings with Porto, but we re really pleased with the outcome…

Real Madrid eyeing AC Milan’s Suso

Spanish daily newspaper Marca has suggested that Real Madrid are keeping close tabs on AC Milan winger Suso.

The Spaniard joined the Rossoneri in a low-profile move from Liverpool in January 2015, but he went on to impress at San Siro.

Suso quickly developed into an important player for AC Milan, having managed 7 goals and 9 assists in 34 league matches last season.

The highly rated footballer recently extended his contract with the Rossoneri until June 2022, with the deal believed to include a €50 million release clause.

Seeing that this is well within Real Madrid’s price range, they stand a good chance of landing their target when they decide to make their move.

Barca´s Douglas to spend season at Benfica

Barcelona defender Douglas will spend the 2017-18 season on loan at Portuguese champions Benfica.

Douglas signed for Barca on a five-year deal in 2014 but spent last year on loan at Sporting Gijon.

And the right-back will again play his football away from Camp Nou after making the temporary switch to Lisbon.

The 23-year-old will help to fill the void left by the sale of Nelson Semedo, who left for Barca earlier in the transfer window.

Benfica have won the last four Primeira Liga titles but are two points behind Sporting CP and Porto after four games this term.
